County Jail vs State Prison
Cabarrus P2C covers current local jail custody. It is not the North Carolina state prison, probation, or parole search. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction public-records page says the Offender Public Information Search or Locator searches by name or offender ID for state prisoners, probationers, and parolees and contains current and historical information back to 1972. The same research states that DAC does not include county jail information.
Use Cabarrus P2C when the person may be in the local detention center. Use the DAC offender locator when the person may be in state prison, on probation, or on parole. Use the Clerk and eCourts Portal when the needed fact is the court disposition, sentence, or pending case event. These are separate record systems, and one person may appear in more than one system at different points in a case.
Cabarrus Sheriff Mobile App
The official Sheriff's site documents a Cabarrus County Sheriff app upgrade published July 8, 2025. The app is free for Apple and Android devices. The Google Play listing names the app "Cabarrus County Sheriff" and describes contact information, news, emergency alerts, local weather, inmate search, sex offenders, crime tip submission, and social media sharing. It does not replace the Clerk's court disposition, and it does not turn local jail data into a statewide prison search. Treat the app as an app-enhanced custody and public-safety channel.
Cabarrus Inmate Visitation Rules
Cabarrus Detention Center visitation runs through an appointment system. The official visitation page lists regular hours as 9 AM to 8 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. If County Government is closed for inclement weather, visitation is canceled. Visits can be scheduled up to one week in advance through the website or kiosk. They must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance and canceled 48 hours in advance. Visits are not scheduled by telephone unless a pre-approved exception is granted by the Detention Administrator.

Cabarrus Inmate Mail and Property
Mail and property rules are strict. Incoming mail is scanned and sent to the inmate, with legal mail as the exception. The Detention Center does not accept bulk mail, mail requiring multiple standard stamps, or mail from another correctional facility. Rejected items include extra writing or sticker address labels beyond mailing and return address, perfumed letters, lipstick stains, altered or substance-soaked materials, bubble or clasp envelopes, cash, checks, money orders, inappropriate photos or lyrics, polaroids, sexually explicit or gang-related images, non-paper items, glue, glitter, stickers, tape, stamps, whiteout, clippings, brochures, puzzles, paperclips, staples, ribbons, rubber bands, plastic, wood, glass, cloth, magnets, and unauthorized writing instruments.
The inmate mailing address is Inmate's Name, PO Box 790, Concord, NC 28026. Allowed writing instruments are pencil and blue or black ink pen only; colored pens, magic markers, and crayons are not allowed. Inmates may receive a total of eight pictures, and extra pictures are returned. Property is not accepted during visitation. Reading glasses are not accepted from the public because inmates can buy them in commissary, with indigent inmates handled case by case.

Canteen and Phone Accounts
Money can be placed into a Cabarrus inmate's canteen account online at Inmate Canteen or through the kiosk in the Sheriff's Office lobby between 8 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday. Programs and PREA Reporting
Cabarrus jail programs add context to inmate records because custody can involve more than housing. The research states that inmate programs began in 2012, 53 community members teach classes, volunteers have provided 18,134 classroom hours, and more than 93,000 inmates have participated in one or more classes since 2012. PREA reporting can be made through staff, volunteers, medical staff, an inmate grievance to the PREA Coordinator, Captain Klinglesmith, or a confidential anonymous message at 704-920-3132. PREA reporting is a safety channel, not a roster search function. It belongs with jail operations and inmate welfare, while court case outcomes remain with the Clerk and the court file.
